School wristbands do one job well: they say something about a child that a busy adult must see at a glance. Printed paper wristbands are the cheapest way to do it, on waterproof, tear-resistant Tyvek that lasts a school day or a whole trip, then tears off.
What schools use them for
- Trips and visits: one colour per group, with the school name and a contact number on every child.
- Daily messages home: I bumped my head, medicine given, inhaler used, a note a parent cannot miss.
- Rewards and house points: a reward band a child wants to keep on all day.
- Identification at pick-up, clubs and residentials, with school ID bands.
- Daily entry: a different colour each day, so yesterday's band cannot get a pupil in today.
What to print, and what to leave off
Print the school name and a staffed phone number. Do not print the child's name: a band that identifies a child to a stranger is a safeguarding problem, and it is the number that actually gets them back to the group. Where you need to separate groups, a different band colour does more work than any wording.
Why Tyvek rather than paper or plastic
Tyvek is a spun synthetic, the same material used in courier envelopes. It survives rain, handwashing, PE and a packed lunch without tearing, which ordinary paper does not. The tamper-evident seal means a band cannot be swapped between children or refitted once it has come off.
Ordering
Choose a ready-made design below, or start from a plain band and add your own text in the studio. Minimum order 50 bands, in batches of 10, so a single class or year group works as an order.
